Mission Week 2: Trips and Mass Baptism
Y'all as chaotic as my title seems, yeah that was my week. That being said yall get a weekly breakdown rq:
Tuesday: My comp wasn't feeling super well but she's a trooper so she pushed through
Wednesday: FAST FORWARD TO WEDNESDAY MORNING AT 1AM. I wake up to "sister, pssst, sister...we need to go to the er" my girl could not breathe. And yes we tried calling our mission president but he didn't answer and I don't have a driving card yet(we have to sign in on a Lil machine) so she had to drive to the er😭 anyways were there till 4:30 and we still went to zone training and interviews💪
Thursday/Friday: Normal days except we were giving sister Porter plenty of time to rest so I spent a lot of time studying and cleaning and doing duolingo piano. UNTIL, Friday we had a meeting with our friend Danillo except his name was actually Ryan 🚩 his English wasn't super great so after about 20 minutes we called the Spanish elders in his area (were over a ysa and a family) and after hearing his name, you could tell they were a little panicked. SO they talk to him, we hear them talking about us a bit, then we get the phone back. They have sister Porter take the phone off speaker and just put it to her ear.
Sidenote: we use first names as code for when we feel unsafe
Ok so she's looking me with wide eyes, gets off the phone and says "rebecca". We skedaddle on out and she tells me that the elders knew who he was just by the name and that he didn't have good intentions and we needed to get out ASAP. Come to find out he was trying to crush missionary testimonies about baptism, get them to believe in mass baptism, and have them start a church with him. Apparently he got a Lil aggressive when the elders didn't want to soooo lol
Saturday: my home girl was BAD so we did an exchange with our sister training leaders and one of them stayed with sister Porter while I went out with the other and taught our lessons and did some street finding. Luckily she felt well enough for the sisters dinner!
We found a new friend this week, fernando! I don't want to jinx it but he seems really interested. I HANDED OUT MY FIRST BOM TO HIM🎉🎉🎉
I have absolutely loved being out here for Easter! All the members are so sweet and loving. This week has really strengthened my testimony of Christ and his love for each of us. That he died for us. He experienced the worst pain alone so that we wouldn't have too, so that we would have Him holding us up when we couldn't hold ourselves. I have learned to rely on my savior so much these past couple weeks, I wouldn't be able to be out here without his help and his strength!
Anyways love y'all here's some pics!
